Prince
It was mid Janurary 2017 when I said goodbye to my horse and friend of 16 years, Prince. He was a tormented soul of chronic issues and I learned so much from him, mainly about pain and fear, his and mine. He was as close to human as a horse can get and he talked to me, especially when I didn't want to listen. I also learned about choosing joy and finding courage when the deck is stacked against us. I learned to be careful of how much I asked of him. He was used to giving too much. We had alot in common. I tried to fix him and in the process he healed me and showed me how to surrender and then let go. It's never easy and it's worth it. We breathed his last breath together. I was so sad but grateful to be there. He left me an increadible gift, his indentation in the snow filled with a pond of tears I'm pretty sure I cried. It reflected the branches of the trees he stood, grazed, and laid beneath for 13 years. I still miss him and I 'm glad he is at peace.
I have started a painting of this.
