Oscar Miller's Violin

commissioned by his daughter, Lois Lovejoy

This was a fun challenge!  Lois presented the violin and several photos from which I merged parts together graphically in order to decide on a design and determine which image to paint on each side.  Once that was done, I proceeded to sand and prime only the front and back of the violin, leaving the sides original.  I used acrylic paints and an acrylic satin sealer.

Front

The image used on the front of the violin is the view from Leighton Art Centre near Calgary, Alberta Canada.

Back

The image used for the background on the back of the violin is of rural Saskatchewan Canada and the picture of Oscar on his horse was taken near Hilda, Alberta Canada. All photos were the personal property of the client.
